Winter Blast to Hit Lake Forest and Lake Bluff: Tips for Safe Walking in Snow and Ice

The Snow & Ice Management Association offers tips to avoid a fall during slick conditions.

The Lake Forest/Lake Bluff area is expected to get another blast of wintry weather today. Accuweather.com reports the city will get two to four inches of snow Thursday evening through Friday afternoon.  While most people prepare for driving safely in the snow, rarely to people think about keeping safe while walking in icy conditions. "Every winter the hazards of driving in snow and icy conditions are noted, but rarely is walking on snow and ice addressed," said Martin B. Wintry Weather on its Way to Lake Forest and Lake Bluff

The National Weather Service is predicting two to four inches of new snow accumulation Thursday night in Lake Forest and Lake Bluff.

Snow along with freezing drizzle could make for dicey driving conditions Thursday night and Friday morning.  The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for much of the Chicago suburbs with snow expected to start late Thursday afternoon and continue into the night before switching to freezing drizzle and light snow by early Friday.  Between two and four inches of snow is predicted for Lake Forest and Lake Bluff late Thursday. Snow and freezing drizzle is expected before noon on Friday.
