Chris. This is strange. I replied positively to your comments about administrators as consultants because I agree with you. Patch has it held as "Pending approval." Maybe a glitch? Here is my post because I think this is truly an area of improvement for taxpayers and mostly students:

You make good points, Chris. (Though, I think hiring qualified parents is a plus in the areas that I see them working. They know the kids and genuinely care much more than someone not familiar with the district.) But I DO wish the BofE would address the issue of administrators who retire and then get hired back immediately as "consultants". It's particularly harmful in fast-moving areas like technology where we'd get a significant benefit and probably long term cost-savings by hiring real experts with cutting edge-skills that one couldn't possibly gain by being an administrator at a suburban school district for 20 years.
