ReplyModie, you are truly an inspiration for us all. Conner is a true American hero. I am glad to see your story in the Lake Forest Patch. We have the blessing of living in the greatest Country in history because of Connor's service. Modie, you and the rest of the Lavin family make us all of proud. Connor represents the best the south side has ever produced and makes all us North Shore transplants proud. God continue to comfort you and your family and give you the strength to continue all the great work you are doing with Connor by your side.

ReplyMichael, , an honest question. I am no economist. I do know that lower taxes historically mean greater job creation and more governmental revenue. That being said and I still believe to be true, we are not in the 80's anymore. So many more manufacturing jobs are gone forever. For many reasons from cheaper labor, to tax incentives to many other reasons I do not pretend to know. The question is, what kinds of jobs can we create in this city, county, state and Country that will last? Free market capitalism
is still the most sustainable economic system. How and what kind of jobs can be created in this Country flowing back to this state??? -

Jon, can you please state exactly who ran in the last election cycle that were not of " " people of reasonable intelligence"? Do you recognize that Madigan and his machine redistricted Dold out of his own district? Do you recognize the South-Side Madigan minions walking the streets of the North Shore campaigning for the Madigan machine? I ran into a union electrician I grew up with on the South-Side standing outside of(electioneering?) where I vote. Do you think that happens on the North Shore? What party is better funded and has a much larger patronage army?
Walter, do you mean that people of reasonable intelligence believe everything is subjective? Do you think there are no objective truths? Lots of folks come on here and talk of intelligence without anything being based in fact. I would appreciate your blanket statements to be followed by fact. Then there can be an actual reasonably intelligent conversation on this thread. Nothing but nothing is solved or even remotely discussed when all anyone does is make ad hominem attacks while ignoring rebuttals based in fact. -

ReplyReg, Arie is not a tea partyer. He is a fiscal conservative, yes, but not a tea party guy. He leans to the left in social issues, but is a fiscal conservative. Dr. Freedman, MD, would have made a great Congressman, and or State Senator. Please provide evidence to the contrary. If he accepted an endorsement from the tea party does that make him one? Anymore then receiving the endorsement from planned parenthood would make him a member of that organization.

Replygary, well said. Arie is a good man and a great example of how the south side machine run by Mafigan is in control of the North Shore as well. Arie would have been a great State Senator and even better Congressman. Another example of the gerrymandering of our districts on the North Shore by a man from the West Lawn neighbourhood on the South side

ReplyDeep Dish Pizza is not Cicago style pizza, so I am guessing you do not quite know how Madigan and his henchman run this State from top to bottom.

ReplyCarol, Dold voted more with the Dems the with the rebups.. He is truly a moderate which is what this district calls for. When the 10th was redistricted Dold was finished because he is not under Madigans thumb. I am conservative, I would love to see a true fiscal conservative represent us. The district is moderate. Bob did a decent job of voting his district. That is what is needed, not a bombastic personality, but a moderate with intelligence, experience and the guts to properly represent his district..

Boomer, you are right. Township government is obsolete anyway. The county asses our property to. Pace has transport service, and so on. Everything this outdated layer of government is a complete waste. It is time that we wake up and abolish it and save us the extra tax. What a total waste of resources. It is beyond time to completely do away with this layer of unneeded government.

ReplyMark Curran is the best sherif Lake County has ever seen! PERIOD. I admire him a great deal. We better all take a look at the difference between Cook and Lake Counties before you vote on one issue. There are plenty of rough areas on Lake County and the crime rate as a whole has gne down under this sheriff. He has my vote. We all need to look at the big picture then be a one issue voter. Lake County is safer under his leadership. Thank you Sherrif Curran for ALL you do for us. God bless you and the good work you do for all of the citizens of Lake County.

I am happy that Congressman Bob Dold is running again. In my humble opinion. He is what the 10th district needs. He is technically Rebublican, but his voting record reflects this district as an independent minded Represntative. We are a mixed bag here. Some are very conservative some very liberal. Label him what you will, but his voting record reflects am independent voting his district. I am more conservative minded, I would love to see an all conservative Congree, but it does not reflect our district. Good luck Bob. Go get em!!!
