Legendary icons BANNED in Highland Park: Walther, Hammerli, Steyr, SIG, Pfuff, others

The Highland Park Assault Weapon ban probably is well-known in Lake Forest, as well the fact that this ban includes the legendary competition target guns of Walther, Hammerli, SIG, Steyr, Pfuff, Feinwerkbau, Anschutz,Keppeler, Tanner, Gruenig and Elmiger, and many other that have been legendary since the 1930s to present.--
The ban also comes almost precisely 100 years after the founding in Highland Park, by its Mayor and City Consul, of the US National Rifle Range organization.  This group was a keystone of the US Civilian Marksmanship Program, and led to the establishment of rifle and gun ranges under municipal, county, and park district auspices throughout the USA.

In the 1950-60s Highland Park was one of the main aggregation and export centers for true assault weapons (tanks, armored vehicles, artillery pieces, rocket launchers, mobile cannon) as well as machine guns,mortars, grenades, and other small arms for insurgents in the middle east.
After the recent failure of attempts to have a D-Day/VE Day exhibit of military small arms at the Historical Society, and later an educational exhibit of just what an assault weapon might be (as defined by city ordinance), an exhibition and sale of legendary firearms by Hammerli, Walther, Steyr, FWB, Pfuff, and others is being held on July 12.
If the Federal courts overturn the ban on the guns soon enough, this will be in Highland Park.  If not, it it will be in the back yard at 2453 Sheridan, Zion IL.  This is easily accessible via Sheridan Rd,or US 41.

A small sample of the guns available are illustrated with this announcement.  The specific guns and models will be

Hammerli 120, 150`, 160`, 208/S, 215/S`, 212`;

Other guns of interest willl be on display but not for sale.  More "conventional" assault weapons will be available for purchase as well, but not a focus of the display.  Guns marked with an ` will be on display and available for purchase, but are not included int he images.  Hi Standards are a mixture of Hamden and Hartford origin, most with barrel weights, but a few not.  Th S&W 41 all are the "original S&W" guns before the days when a custom shop was needed.  A long barrel may be on display, but all sale items will be the shorter barrel version without the sight extension.  Some with box.

Technical experts in these guns and their use will be available to assist in understanding the guns and their underlying science and engineering.  Children are welcome, but must be accompanied by a responsible adult.  An IL FOID is not required for entry (there is no admission charge), but ALLL sales will be FFL mediated with backround checks.  NO private party sales. Special requirements apply to some police sales, so check first if that is your intent.  No law enforcement discounts.
Although one of the staff is not a "past master" use of these guns, she is a very understanding lady who specifically will be present to assist women in finding what might be optimal for their needs, and to help kids feel at ease.

The guns available are for the target shooter seeking perfection, but also are useful for concealed carry, defense, collections, and a variety of other uses

For police and security work, in the US, deployment of these guns generally is limited to specialty units of Defense and Naval Intelligence field operations.  They are far beyond anything the FBI and SEALs have available in accuracy and  quality.  For domestic police and security work, they are useful in the specific situations were not more than one shot per intended target can be used, where the objective is to cause either no personal injury to the target or keep that injury highly specific, where no bystander injury can occur, and where bullet overpenetration would preclude use of a firearm.  They are especially useful indoors, in crowded areas where many people are present and are not the targets, when multiple targets are present and all must be disabled in rapid fire, where a handgun must be used at distances exceeding 25 yards, and where low noise is required.  Instances include schools, stores, public gatherings.
This event is NOT an attempt to advertise concealed carry classes, and the experts at this event do not necessarily favor that in any event.  However, information on where to obtain the training will be made available, IF request.

Please note, for most gun owners in the area, these guns are a completely new area of experience.

This will be the largest, finest selection of this type of gun ever held in the US.  However, snap or spur of the moment purchases of these guns are NOT recommended.  Be sure you understand what they are, and what they can and can not achieve.  THAT is one of the purposes of this event.
