Cold Weather Will Close Lake Forest Area Schools, Businesses Jan. 6

Some suburban schools and organizations will be closed Jan. 6 due to extremely cold temperatures. Check back here to learn of closings in the Lake Forest and Lake Bluff area.

Some Lake Forest and Lake Bluff schools and other organizations will be closed Monday as the area braces for what is expected to be the coldest weather in nearly 20 years.

By early afternoon Sunday, many local schools had canceled school for Monday, which was scheduled to be the first day of class after winter break.

The Lake Forest Library will be closed Monday, it announced on its Facebook page. The Lake Bluff Public Library is also closed. Both plan to reopen on Tuesday.

The temperature is expected to get as low as 16 degrees below zero in Lake Forest Sunday night, with windchill readings as low as -42, according to the National Weather Service.

On Monday, a high of -12 is predicted, with windchill readings as low as -45.

Schools will be closed.

School District 65
Schools will be closed.

School District 72
Schools will be closed.

School District 115 (Lake Forest High School)
School will be closed.

School District 125 (Stevenson)
School will be closed. From the school's Facebook page: "Stevenson High School will be closed Monday, January 6 due to extreme weather conditions. All classes and after-school activities are cancelled. Classes are scheduled to resume at 8:05 a.m. Tuesday, January 7. The second-day-of-the-week schedule will be followed on Wednesday, January 8."

Woodlands Academy of the Sacred Heart
School will be closed.

St. Patrick Religious Education
Classes are canceled for Monday.
