Photo Gallery: Bash Celebrates Beach's 25 Years

Actually Forest Park Beach is a lot older, but the City of Lake Forest held a three-day beach bash Friday through Sunday to celebrate 25 years of the updated, restored facility.

Games, picnics, concerts, a Taste of Lake Forest, warm water and good swimming all came together over the weekend as Lake Forest celebrated 25 years of the restored with a bash.

There were as many as 100 people in the water at one time, according to Assistant Beach Manager Matt Tomanek of Lake Forest. “We were up in three chairs,” he said referring to the life guards’ effort.

Another highlight was a sand sculpture commissioned by the Parks Department to Wauconda artist Ted Siebert. He spent two days creating a mermaid upon a sea horse.

There were three concerts—Johnny Russeler & The Beach Bum Band, Mirror Images and Mr. Meyers. Some took advantage of the restaurants that set up at the beach for the Taste of Lake Forest while others brought their own picnic.
